Office Hours and Appointments
We try to see all patients on an appointment basis and we request that you call in advance so that we can reserve time for you. Appointments are available Monday through Friday. We will make every effort to see you as soon as possible and we often have openings within 24 hours.
We ask that our new patients arrive 20 minutes early to allow adequate time for our registration process. Emergencies are commonplace in the practice of Orthopedics and can sometimes cause a disruption in our regular schedule. If a delay is unavoidable, we will keep you informed of your appointment status. If, for some reason, you must cancel an appointment, please try to give us 24 hours notice.
Workers’ Compensation
If you should sustain an injury at your workplace, we would be happy to evaluate and treat your injury. The Connecticut Workers Compensation system allows for employers and carriers to contract with physicians. Our office contracts with most Workers Compensation panels but not all. You must provide our billing department with the necessary forms from your employer and your workers’ compensation insurance carrier. If we do not receive the information, you will be responsible for payment. If you are represented by an attorney, you should have them contact our office prior to your appointment to make sure that our office is aware of any complications that we should be aware of prior to beginning care.
Motor Vehicle Accidents/Personal Injury
We are happy to be one of the few medical practices in Central Connecticut that care for those patients injured in an accident. In the case of a motor vehicle accident, patients must provide our billing department with all motor vehicle insurance information, as well as health insurance information in advance of their appointment. This will permit our billing department to secure confirmation that the motor vehicle insurance company or your health insurance will cover patient’s medical expenses which were incurred as a result of the accident. For personal injury or slip and fall accidents, payment is ultimately due from the patient and is not contingent upon the status or outcome of the case. If an attorney is representing your interests, it is our policy to extend the courtesy of credit upon receipt of a protection letter from your attorney. Your attorney must provide a letter of protection to secure any uncovered service before you begin care and regardless of your health insurance or med-pay coverage benefits.
X-rays
If x-rays, MRIs or CT scans have previously been taken, we request that you bring the films and reports along for your visit.
Prescriptions and Medications
Many orthopedic conditions require the use of medications to control pain and inflammation. If you have any questions regarding your medication, or if you need a medication refilled, please feel free to call us during our regular office hours. No prescriptions will be filled at night or on weekends. To ensure that you have your medication when you need it, you must allow 24 hours for medication refills to be phoned to your pharmacy. (Narcotic medications cannot be phoned in, and require an office visit.) Please have the telephone number of your pharmacy available when you call for a refill.
Telephone Calls
Our office staff is on duty to help you from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please try to make all of your routine calls during these hours. Due to the high volume of calls when the office opens, it is best to call early in the morning for appointments and later in the morning for messages and medication refills. Our office staff can answer many of your questions. If not, they will refer your question to your physician. The doctor will respond as his time permits and the situation demands.
